Loes van Schaijk (pronounced “Lus”) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the Netherlands, who has been living in Prague since 2018, released a solo album in 2021 and won awards in several prestigious competitions not long after (including 1st place at Porta 2021). Those of you who were at Celtic Night in 2022 may remember her strong and specific voice and soulful delivery when she was a guest singer with the band Rí Ra. For this year's Celtic Night, Loes put together a top four-piece band with guitars, fiddles and bodhrán.

The polyphonic vocals and rhythmic interplay of the band reveal progressive bluegrass, Irish and Scottish "trad", Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac as the main influences - and a touch of jazz is added to it. Loesa's original songs have catchy choruses as well as elements that deserve repeated listens: ambiguous lyrics, irregular rhythms and unexpected chord changes. Jigs and reels cannot and will not be missing.
